HAPPY FATHERS DAY THANKS FOR BEING SUCH A GR8 DAD, DAD!

Looks like the fam reunion was a blast. That house looked awesome. Smart is around the world.

This week we witnessed a miracle. One of the investigators in the other area moved to our area and he can get baptized on June 30 the last day of the month. It's been a goal for pres to have everyone baptize this month! wahooooo! His name is Marcelino. He's from Paraguay. The Paraguayans are so cool (same country as Elder Cano). They talk funny and it reminds me of Elder Cano lol. His mom's a member and they barely moved here in Argy like last month. gr8 humble people. It feels good to see the obedience pay off!

This week is the last week of transfers and the last week of Pres. Detlefsen. It's awesome, we get to have a zone conference with him on his last day, so we'll take fotos and stuff. It should be very special. We don't know what will happen with transfers, but we'll find out Friday.

I did go look for shoes today. I went to look at the prices and stuff and they're like 300 to 400 pesos which is like 80 to 100 dollars, so its like the same.

That's cool that Sub goes to the temple. I wish we could go to one here on the mish. Keep going.

That's cool that like all the Holdstocks talked. I also have a better, whats the word, thanking for the pioneers. I was reading ¨our history¨ when we had our time without gas and stuff and it made me very thankful for the house that we had even tho we didn't have much. One I had shoes, 2 I had a roof.

The weather isn't that bad today. Saw a bee so I guess that shows its not that cold.

I'm so pumped to see pres this week cuz you know all the gr8s/ legends do their best when the time is running out. So it should be Pres Detlefsen at his best! It's funny, half the people here can't pronounce Detlefsen. They say DetClefssen, don't ask me why.

In sacrament meeting it was cool hearing all the kids sing all the dad songs in espñ.

I bought an espñ dictionary. It's sweet. Has some fotos. I love learning words from people. Like the other day I learned capucha, which is hoody.

Hooooooolaaaaaaaaaaa

This week idk why, but it was freezing haha. The good news is that it should be better this week and not as cold.

I haven't gone to Centro to go look for shoes cuz today I'm with Elder Hare. His comp had to go to Buenos Aires for papers stuff he needed to do to be here in Argy or somethin so we couldn't go to Centro but the next week we'll go for sure and find some stuff for shoes etc. So today I just chilled at their house and read liahonas (ensign). They're awesome.

I haven't gotten your package yet mom, but its coming.

We couldn't find Juan Carlos after Monday, the day we passed by. A thing that we are doing is working with the less active people in our ward cuz one, there's alot where we are and the other to look for incomplete families, like the mom is bapt and the kids aren't or somethin like that. Yesterday we had 2 less actives attend. Hna Zamora who's a capa (awesome) and we've been workin with her and her fam to return since I've been here and also another lady Natalia Coronel. So we were pumped for that. Have i told you that we had an investigator named Jessica Anderson? haha I was like, "Hey you have an american name." Jessica is spelled like Yessica cuz the y makes a J sound. I like the mix of cultures here. It's also an easy topic to talk bout in lunches haha. "Where you from?" "My mom's from germany my dad españa(spain)."

What else happened this week? hmm

That's sweet the fam reunions coming up. You'll have to tell me all bout it and send some pics.

Haha we have some more pibe friends or how do you say it? like kids that play in the street. They're pretty hilarious. They always used to say in the street when we passed them, "Are u guys sons of God?" Uds son hijos de dios haha Everytime they would always say that and then we were like, "Hey let's talk to them." I wantd to b4 but they'd always go ride off on there bikes or sumthn and its funny how kids go on a spree of questions. "How'd u guys get here? airplane?"  "Do u speak english?" yes haha they're funny. One of them invited us to his bday party.

Every Saturday here it soccer saturday. It's kinda like when the utes play. People watch it and all the kids like to tell me who won.

I really have learned too that u can ask people to do stuff, but they all have there agency like you were telling me of dads talk. At the end of the day u can't force anyone to do anything.

Next week for sure I will look for shoes and stuff.

Sounds like the weather is doing gr8. Here too. It is bout 40, almost rainy lol, but now that we have gas in our house it actually feels hot haha.

Mirian's mom doesn't want us to talk with her. Her mom is living with her now and saw her reading the BoM and wasn't too happy. And her mom was like, "I thought I raised you as a Christian"...haha. It's sad how confused people are with our religion. So, as long as the mom is in that house we can't go by. But the world goes on. It's sad to see but she'll have another chance in the future, no doubt.

Happy Birthdayyyyyyy Scottttttt!! Surprise haha that was sweet what they had planned for you. I have your letter. I didn't have time to send it today, but for real, I mean it next week.

My favorite food in Argy world is Canalones it looks like ....oh i forgot what its called ..where you have tortilla wrapped in a pan and theres like 8 with cheese on it. That's what it looks like. I remember I had it my 1st day in Argy, then I just had it the other day. Yeah its good and also the soupish thing with rice or noodles called ¨Guiso.¨ Sometimes they put cow stomach in it. I like it. It tastes a lil like gum, but i like it.

This is Pres last month in the mish and a goal for him is to have every companionship baptize someone. We found a guy the other day called Juan Carlos Sanchez. He's cool. We thought that he was goin to attend church, but no, his wifeish has interest too. She's called Elisa. I was like, "Hey my mom's name is lisa and my sis alyssa." I still haven't found anyone with the name grant, but ¨to grant¨ is the word conceder, so ya I need to buy a dictionary here, Argy version, cuz the dictionaries we have are mexican. It's kinda like our english to Weston's english right now haha. Watup West! Dang he's done this transfer!!!

The weather isn't really bothering. You get warm when you walk alot.

Comps doing good. I'm trying to help him enjoy working more. Sometimes its hard haha kinda like getting me to do homework haha! I guess I deserve it hahaha.

I was thinkin bout you, mom and dad, yesterday and obviously thru out the mish and you guys are sooooooooo awessssssooooomme. Being away from people you need and stuff makes you more appreciative for everything. Thx for all you've done in my life and all you will do. I know that you guys care for me and love me. I remember reading a thing from Pres. Hinkley in an Ensign bout ¨Gifts you need to take home with you when you go home¨ gifts as in what you should learn and have. And one of them was a gr8er appreciation for your parents. Most definitely I have that and that's why I try to work hard everyday, cuz also I don't want to come home the same. Like a quote dad said that I'll never forget is, "if you come home the same it will be a tragedy and I don't like tragedies." haha. It's cool to see the change in missionaries when they come home and I hope I'm one of those that people say, "Yep he served a good mish."

They do have cookies here with dulce de leche, gma merlyn and also thx for the lil postcard things you send. They're gr8. I need to send letters to you & gma & gpa Smart and scottcharu.

Gas & Electricity - Finally

One Year

We have gas!!!!!

For a one year mark to celebrate I had a hot shower!!!! Also we have electricity that is our own. We were borrowing it from the lil store in front thru a cable. Also this week, haha mom will like this, we had a favring rat in the house hahaha! We live behind a lil store that just barely closed and they had food in there and stuff and so one liked to sneak in our house at nights. One night we all heard it like at 10:30 and so we set it up and closed the drain thing that it comes in. And so we finally got it trapped in the house cuz if not it may just die down there if we trap it. It was hiding in the oven and in another lil spot. Then we decided it'd be better if we trap it in the bathroom cuz we can
just catch it in there. We got it in the bathroom, then we go in and check and get it... Where is it? Ugh, oh where'd it go? We looked, then we found it in behind a bide (kinda like another toilet to wash your bum) in where the pipes go in. So after a while of trying to get it, we were like, "Well, we can get it tomorrow." So when Elder Templeton and I had to go to the bus station to wait with Elder Hare, cuz his comp was coming home from divisions and he couldn't be alone, so we stayed at their house. And when we got back in the morning they were like, "Its dead wahooo!!" The guy that owns the apartments came with his son and they disconnected the bide and Elder Jones stepped on its neck ¨Tomatela¨ So our house now is officially sweet and I also got some of the rat on video haha. Its not like our house is dirty, its clean. There just used to be a field there so it didn't have a home.

For my one year mark the other elders were like, "Burn a shirt!" So I did. A white one, the grossest one haha. Dang I can't believe its been a year. It doesn't even feel real. I remember the day I woke up to go to the MTC. I was like, ¨Wow 2 yrs is a long time! Am I nuts!¨ And I remember satan was workin on me. I remember that was the only time I was scared to leave up to that point. Before it was always like wahooo 50 days left or 2 weeks til I leave. But the only time I felt fear or scared was right when I woke up. I had no desires to get up. But haha I knew with out a doubt i had to go, but as soon as i got up I was good. Crazy day that was.

Also, 25 of May is the Independence Day here. So a lot of Argys had their flags out. It was a slow week cuz every one was gone or had lil desires to listen haha. At the church on the 25th we had a ¨locro¨ like a big soup thing with basically leftover parts from animals that people don't usually eat. It's a tradition here and I liked it even tho I don't know what I ate lol. I took a foto of it.

Also, on Saturday we had lunch with a fam and one of their sons who's a returned mish studied at BYU and taught english to latinos and they were askin me stuff i like. And of course I told them I like to juggle ha no bball and the son was like, ¨hey like Teach me how to Jimmer!¨ Young Sim you're worldwide my man haha! And of course I had to mention my cuz that did that song!

We almost went to the big Jesus statute today, but we didn't. Next week we will. I bought a bday card for Scott..i just need to send it!

Oh and that guy that studied in byu he said he found a market in provo i think where the sale dulce de leche and all Argy stuff and there's like an argy bakery. So some of the stuff here exists in utah wahoo! I've actually never bought dulce de leche but you'll have to buy it.

It was funny, on my year mark i heard Argys yelling out my window, ¨One more yr, one more yr!¨ I was like calm down I'm staying here haha jk I made that up.

Church is true. Keep reading your book of mormon every day. Listen to the spirit.

Congrats Sub on all your dates. By the end of the week you'll have more than my career haha but that's alright I was shooting jk!

Hoooolaaaaaa

Your week sounded busy this week. Happy bday Sabrina 16 awesoooomee!!!!!
You're now officially old.

Our week was good. Yesterday we received the gas papers yeeeeeeessss.
But now we need money to pay for it haha. But we're progressing so
anytime this week we could have gas and everything. It will be gr8 to
take a real shower hahaha.

Yesterday we were going by Mirian's house and I was kinda thinkin we may
need to drop her, but then she was like, "I'm going to try and give up
smoking." So I take that as a yes we should keep passin by her house.
Sorry if my spelling is worse today cuz I'm  missin a lot of the letters
on the keyboard haha.

Yeah it might rain today but its all good haha.

We kinda blessed that one ladies house. I just kinda started the prayer, then
the door rings and I was like oh gr8. Then one of the kids answered it and
the gma was like hooooolaaaaa haha, so it was kinda ruined it. But we'll
try today.

Comps doing good but the other elders in the house like to work as
much as the great Allen Iverson loves to practice haha. And he kinda
sees that and at times gets distracted. But we're workin on it. Comp's a capo.
It's just kinda different. I luckily haven't been in a house with elders
that rather not work.

I think we will be able to see the temple dedication thing.

Wow, I'm going to hit 1 yr this week. It's a lil weird lol cuz they always
say once you hit one year time just flies. I don't know what I'll do to
celebrate. Maybe hold up number 1 on my finger the whole day. It's weird
I'll almost have one day left of every day but I'm determined to finish
strong. No looking back. Just going all out baptizing etc. It's also like a
holiday the 25th so there's a big lunch at the church, but idk if we
can go.

And I'm going to send scott a card next week for his bday.

It was crazy, the other day we were talkin with a less active and I look
at his hand and I'm like, "What the heck?" He has 2 thumbs on one hand haha.
So I've met a  guy with 11 fingers. If you put your thumbs x together, then
roll it up so you can see the nails, that's what it looks like ha. I
couldn't believe it.

Congrats V and Clayton tearing up the track! The next Usain Bolts.

That was fun yesterday! That was gr8 seeing all of your faces. You all look sooo good. It's all right if you did all the talking jaja (haha in espn).  Keep being capos and doin what you do. I'm happy to hear that I have an accent jaja. I really hope to forget as much eng as possible. There have been times when I totally forget a word when comp asks somthn in english it's awesome!

I have a razor!!!! Thank you Elder Shreeve. Just for that I like Boise State a lil more jk. He was talkin today saying you know I need more razor blades cuz he hasn't used his electric razor since mtc, like 6 months. And I was like I'll buy it from you. So we did that. I'm soo gladd!!! Cuz we saw some razors for like 800 pesos hahaha wow! It's actually the same one that Elder Templeton has.

About gas - yes we have been buggin the house keeper missionaries for 6 weeks haha. And we just had transfers and now there is a different elder, Elder Rodriguez, and I know him from Olavarria. So I'll bug him every day. The thing is that we are waiting for the papers from Bahia that basically says that such elder can sign the papers and haha. It's been a while so I'll be buggin Elder Rodriguez.

There is a new elder in our house, Elder Jones from Mission Viejo Cali. Elder Koeven went to La Pampa. He's a cool guy. He has like til Oct to end his mish. Now I'm not the oldest in the house haha. I'm with Elder Templeton for at least one more transfer. He's so awesome haha. It's funny he's next door neighbors with PK on 1320. His espñ is the best I've seen as a rook. He understands good and stuff. idk how he does it haha. My 1st month I was trying to pick out words haha. He had a good time talking with his familia. They were all hyped up on seeing him. They have a cool fam. His mom was asking all the same questions as you mom haha.

I can go shoe shopping. You don't need to worry bout sending me shoes. I'm good.

Today at 7:30, its sweet, we'll be dedicating a house or kinda blessing on a house. The mom of this less active fam was like, "I don't feel good in here at times." So I'm pretty pumped for that. She also wants to sings also haha that'll b fun haha.

We played ball today! Its been since Elder Cano since I've balld.

I love preach my gospel too mom. It's a wonderful book. I'm thinking of going back into Alma. I just ended the questions of the soul from chapter 5. There's like 7 chapters that answer questions and so I think I'll go into Alma. I love the book Alma.

Lucy looks good. Keep taking care of her, walkin etc.

Sweet 16 Sub awww yeah mom just told me shes buying you a bentley. Sorry to spoil your bday present  haha jk. Life only gets better!

Oh yesterday at church they announced that they're going to rededicate the Buenos Aires temple on Sept 9. That is huge news cuz it's almost been 3 yrs since its been closed cuz its hard to import the wood, equipment and stuff here to Argy from USA. And I remember when I came here they were all saying by March it should be done. Then that passed haha. Then May. Then to hear a real announcement and that Pres. Monson will be there!!! That'll be gr8! Normally people go to the Uruguay temple. It's like 16 hrs from here in bus. I hope I can go some day!

I'm really missing a baptism. We almost had Mirian in the church. We passed by her house and her hubbyman was like, "Yeah her sister just came here from out of town and so they went out." So close! I know the Lord will bless us with our obedience and diligence. We'll get some soon. We're also kinda thinkin bout dropping some of our inv. It's always hard to do, but they're never around and their interest just doesn't seem in it.

What a good week you guys all had with Alyssa's graduation, LeeAnn y Terri and all that stuff. It's always good to hear stuff like that.

Alyssa's always been a gr8 example for me. She just does her work and nothin else. Doesn't seek for awards. Nothin. Just does what she's suppose to. gr8 job! I was telling a fam at lunch that my sis graduates today (on saturday).

Pres Detlefesen is sooooooooo aweesssooooommeee!! We had interviews with him Friday. b4 interviews we had like a lil 1h 30 min talk with the zone and he his soooo hilarious. Think of the last time you saw a mish pres pretend he was a statue on a horse or dance like fly hahahaha. He is an incredible person with one of the gr8est sense of humors. He said, "When I teach I like to tell jokes cuz it helps break the ice." haha He is awesome and he has gr8 vision for the church. He was teaching us how if we never change, work hard, etc we'll arrive the same person that we were and this 2 yrs is yrs to change. idk if I'll see pres again as him being my mish pres. gr8 man and definitely has fun with life haha.

We almost had inv in church, almost but they didn't arrive. We passed by Javier yesterday, but he was sleeping.

We had a pretty funny day today. So we had to go to Centro (like downtown) to give the other missionaries we live with some papers they forgot. And also we sent letters. I sent one to SubJ for her bday haha. You'll like it! Then we did some shopping and looked at some stores (btw tell Jamaal Tinsley that he's in front of a lil store in argy, its like a paper size pic of him in a game. Bet he didn't know that lol) and then we were goin home and then we were the only people on the bus with the driver and he stopped. He said, ¨Well guys, this is where I stop. You have to get off.¨ haha. Ok, peace. So we got off and had no idea where we were. But we got off at a pretty cool view totally on accident haha. There was also a like jet plane on a stick thing, and statue thing. So we took pics of that and the view. Then there was another family at this lil park and the dad's like, "Hey elders." I asked if he's a member, but he wasn't. We ended up talkin like 30 to 40 min and he really respects us. So we talked bout church and I was thinkin this guy will be a gr8 member of the church. But thing is he lives in Formosa, north of the country. So we can't ever teach him cuz he's not here. So hopefully we helped plant that seed. Good he listened to missionaries b4. He'll get bapt some day.

Also, we were at lunch with like a 45 yr old member and he said he's from Gnrl Pico in the Pampa so I asked him if he knows Andres Nocioni and he said no. But he's like a huge fan of the NBA big time. So I asked him his fav team and of course its the Spurs and we mentioned how we're from Utah. Then he was like, "One second." Then he turns on nbatv to a rerun of the jazz vs spurs. Now, I know Josh Howard is on jazz, but it was also good that we only had a few min to eat with him cuz it was right b4 the interviews with pres. So we got out of there in a good time. It also made me proud of you guys for keeping me so far from the game. I had no idea Chris Paul was on LAC, but I don't care right now. I'm on my mission! Comp was like, "He's been on there for like a year." Thx parents, for real, for keeping me from the game, but still a little in it. It was a lil hard to be in that house. I was like, "Holy tom jones, nba!" But we left.

And want to mention what a good life Rowena Madsen lived. It was always good to see her in church cuz she had all the excuses to stay home. But, no she persevered til the end. And she was a gr8 example to all of us. Always happy and she always talked bout mom when we'd give her the sacrament when she couldn't make it to church. thx for everything.
