Elder Roberts landed this morning in Argentina after hours and hours and hours of flight. At the airport in Texas and the airport in New York he was able to call home. It was so good to hear his voice, full of enthusiasm about this next step in his mission.
From Texas to New York he had an amazing experience on the plane. He he sat by a guy from the Virgin Islands. They talked about the church. The guy asked him about the Broadway play about the Book of Mormon. Reggie told him that it was not a true story about the real Book of Mormon. Reggie pulled out his book and showed it to the guy. Reggie asked him if he had seen one of those before and the guy said that he had not. (Reggie has a Spanish Book of Mormon to give away but not an English one.) The guy also asked Reggie about polygamy. Reggie didn't really know what to say. They also talked basketball. The guy had met Tim Duncan's cousins. So Reggie thought that was cool. Reggie said that their conversation was very positive. This guy pointed out different things in the landscape, as he has traveled that way before. They developed a good relationship.
As they were getting ready to land, Reggie really wanted to give him something, but only had his Spanish Book of Mormon. As he was grabbing his backpack to go, underneath it was a little card. At first Reggie thought it was a card from another religion. It said, "What does God think of you?" But when Reggie turned it over he realized it was an LDS pass-a-long card. Reggie had never seen it before and knows he didn't pack it. He picked it up and asked the guy if he would like it. The guy said, "Yes." Reggie was really excited about this experience and couldn't wait to tell us.
We can't wait to hear how the 12 hour flight between New York and Argentina went, and all about his new home!

July 22, 2011 - Last MTC Email
Hello everyone nice to talk to u this fine afternoon!
things are good here just counting down the days until were on a plane cant wait!
So the other day my comp and i taught/ showed an example to the new missionaries about how to start a lesson and get to know them and then we were supposed to tie a spiritual part into it. we taught in front of about 200 to 300 new missionaries and they gave us those sweet microphones that they clip onto NBA players during games and stuff, i so wanted to be like "Going for takeoff' how nba-ers do and stuff into the microphone! and i also thought it would be sweet to pretend like i was Marv Albert 'From down town'
our investigator /actor was wearing a NY Giants jersey Eli Manning so i brought up nfl and he said how the lockout was going away. then he talked bout how he used to have these missionaries come over and one of them could cook really well and then he asked me what my best dish was hahaha and i said "Peanut Butter and Jelly" people were laughing it was a good experience
thank u so much for the packages they are awesome the slippers, bouncy balls, i think that i will break out that small hoop on the plane like at 3 in the morning and get some pick up games going hahaha
its going to be weird to actually be in the real world cuz i've been in here for what 8 to 9 wks and it'll be a big change where everyone is lds and everyone is happy and stuff to the outside world, i'm soo excited to see some people and interact with them instead of just saying "oh where u going on ur mish" etc i cant wait!
thank u for that phone card thingy i'm going to try and figure it out haha ill try to call as much as i can, its not a distraction to me its where i can get advice and talk to people that i love, will alyssa and scott be there or should i call them separate to logan i have alyssa's number so i could call her. idk when in SLC ill call once i settle down and everything is ready i'll try and call so 4 am be ready haha
alyssa asked a question bout if fams when they drop off there kids from like bama or tx if they drive from there state...i've seen some texas cars ID Colo but if they are farther than tx they usually fly then rent a car
Spanish is going alright i still don't really get it i can understand some sentences but i can't talk haha i just can say words but it'll come no worries i just need to work hard get better everyday
the girls are probly having a blast in girls camp

someone was saying there's a wal-mart in bahia...its funny pple always say ''my bro girlfriends dad went there and they...'' stuff like that and they'll say how they say argentina is and half the stuff they say are mostly lies haha
i still pretty much know nuthn bout Bahia Blanca cuz i want it to be a surprise haha
some elders are saying how it won't be that cold and stuff hahah silly it'll be freezing
so jimmer got to play golf with charles barkley that is awesome haha and he finished last that is sweet haha
well i know this church is true and i know that the lord wants me in argentina and to speak espanol. it is kinda a scary feeling if u think about it too much...i don't know espanol idk a lot, but i know the lord needs reggie roberts in argentina and imma take that and run with it and do my best. i have no reason to be scared - the lord isn't setting me up to fail.

TREMENDOUS NEWSS my peeps i got my travel plansssss!!!!
so heres the deal
july 25 at 3 am i have to be at travel off at mtc!!!
our plane leaves at 6 am from SLC,go to Dallas/Ft wrth Home of the champs Mavs!!!arrive in Dall at 9:35!! stay ther until 2;05 then guess where i get to goooo!!! NEW YORK Concrete jingle where dreams are made of in new yooork" alicia Keys
i arrive there at 6:55 pmand we leave NY at 10 pm (so dang thats like Midnight0 lolthen head to Buenos Aires ARGand arrive at 9:35am july 26 so i did the math and that is 19hrs and 50 minutes on a plane hahaha isnt that awesome!!!! New yooork of i really want to see Madsion Saquare Garden, i know that we probly cant leave the airport but if we fly over it oh man i think ill Cry "The worlds most hfamous arena" Mohamed ali MJ Kobe Melo Wilt Rocky anybody whos anyobdy has been theere Rocky Marsciano ugh New Yoork!!

on this past wed we hosted new missionaries and haha my mish was from Alabama yup i briought up Sugar Bowl for sure i didnt want bring it up but i said u a bama fan then he askd me U or BYU and i ghave him a smile and said UTAH and he was like ugh u guys dominated us hahahathen he said well we won ntl champ nxt yr. then i thot if the utes had a chance they wouldve won it to. but were cooll he has class in my same building so we see each other
hosting is awkward parents are crying hope i dont have to do that again
saw kellan and at dinner his 1st day he sweiped his meal card and looked up and his comp just disapeard hahaha so i tried helping him find his compbut no luck he said hed look for him at a new mish conf we were laughing about that funny story

was talking to sum ute D end today hes from bingham and he also got to play in "Jerrys World' cowboys stadium he has gym with me and haha it looks like not really athletic, hes pretty big.
Maybe ill see carmelo at the airport and ill give him a b of m for sure haha i will keep my eye open for celebs like how dad got OJs autograph on jis mishh haha hey maybe ill see spike lee and i will toatlly bring up how my name is Reggie...but ill make sure i act like a mish not some crazy fan hahaha but if i see kobe i may go crazy haha chiste

i met some girl from Miami in lunch line the other day oh i wanna go there some day, i asked here if shes a fan of the Heat then she said something to me in espanol cuz i guess here mom is from cuba so shes way fluent, i think she said she thinks there goo idk her sapnish was like furhdf;uhgiufesghyrgfurgyfhdsjalugfug so i probly just smiled and said sweet hahaha

| In class we had an activity where we drew a picture of our favorite food and we learned how to ask for the food in Espanol. It ended up that we as a class took it a step further and we asked for anything we could see hahaha yeah we're cool! Dobson: Spanish dictionaries. Hermana Smith: looks like it she took everyone's rings. Sterling: took everyone's tie except mine. McDaniel: has everyone's watches hahaha. Cooper: nametags. Francis (top left with glasses): everyone's keys. Hermana Toronto: my tie and all the food haha. Me: I go for the bling! I got Hna Toronto's "Randy Moss" type earrings they're sweet. Top of tha Muffin to ya this dandy morning from the provo mtc laundry room!
its all good!
this wk my spanish has had the biggest improvement witch is grreat! thx for the prayers!
the 2nd of july surprise we as an mtc listened to a talk from our zone branch pres leader which was awesome but they ran out of rm in the gym so we had to go in the overflow he talked bout USA, we sang US holiday songs yankee doodle etc then there were these bagpipe guys that came in and then they brouht a ton of flags in from all around the wrld...perfect time to go to the overflow haha we missed all the live action, oh well. then they said we could watch the firewrks from the stadium of fire which was awesome, and they also gave us an ice cream bar...and the firewrks didnt end until around 11 if i remember right they gave us permission to stay up hahaha so that was pretty sweet!

We as a class watched in our room a DVD on "Miracle of a Mission" from Jeffrey R. Holland it was powerful it was probably filmed in the 80's. Hahaha we're funny. |
i know this church is true and w/god nuthn shall be impossible its way sweet to think that the lord has faith in me to learn espanol.. i dont even thought that me has learned english alls the ways haha

hey hey hey everyone how is life
its bueno here like always!
Elder Bednar spoke to us last Friday and it was awesome he talkd bout becoming a pRCH MY gospel missionary"
It was awesome and 7 out of 12 apostles were there perry nelson ballard bednar holland andersen andi cant think of the others and dont have enuff time to look it up haha
and after breakfast on last sat isaw elder perry walking by and he asked us group of pple how our language is going...itts cool ive been in his presence up close 3 times
So thr NBA might be having a lockout that is bittersweet cuz maybe Manu will be in Bahia Blanca longer so i can teach him!! i pray that ill be able to teach him :) but if its not the lords will im okay with it but i really want to
24 days left in America!!! i cant wait!! well probly get our plane plans in a wk or 2
Elder lang and Mcdaniel are the new zone leaders. well get new dist leaders sunday\
Today is the last day to go to the temple:( so im sad they will becleaning it an re open it on the 25th ive really enjoyd going each fri
i saw another baby the other day and it felt like christmas a little bit hahaha a real live baby

sweet story bout me folowing the holy ghost promptings...so its wed and there are a billion new missionaries and it was dinner time so it was packed and i got in line for food and the line wasnt that big but still it could be shorter and i just had this feeling to go to the other line on the otherside but i could see the otherside a lil bit and it lookd packed and then i was like "hey the HG is never wrong" so i got out of my place in line which wasnt terribly long in the 1st place and i see that noone is in line at all cuz i guess the new missionaries probly thought that there is only oneline per serving area (this is making no sense probly) but to get to the point i followed th spirit and i saved a few min.
the lord cares bout everything bout u even bout how fast yu get ur food :)
i put soap in this time for laundy bahahaha
im doing pretty good in teachin in all spanish our inv want to get bapt...they are inv from our teachers missions so they try to make it as real as possible

The other day @ lunch some of the Elders were taking about Pokemon hahaha I'm glad I never got into that stuff & I think I'm the only Elder that knows nothing about it. So it made me happy

My comp said he went to Ryan Sheckler's bday party for his 12th Bday party. Shecker is a sweet skateboarder & he's kind of like one of the best known skaters so it is sweet
So I got to see Paul & Karen & Nancy & Kevin. In our Devotional w/ all the MTC I was thinking oh yeah I should look for them so I stand up for like 20 sec & then I sat down then I stood up for about 10 sec & I look over kind of in front & all 4 of them are waving & giving me thumbs up. I was sitting in the corner (to the speakers left & a little bit behind them) so it was amazing how fast they found me!
Then as we were walking out for dinner I'm kinda zoned in while I was walking then Paul runs up to me and puts his hands on my shoulders and I was like "Heeeyy!" Then we hugged it was sweet!
I'm so glad I get to learn Spanish! I love it. I don't hate anything I can't wait til I can just speak it.
I think Nathan & Andrew said they got it by 6 months (the language) so that will be like Nov, Dec when hopefully I'll be able to do it w/ ease. but who knows it may come earlier. I just need to work hard & do my part & the Lord will do the rest. So when I call home on Christmas (which will be hot by the way hahaha :) ) I will try to be able to say a ton.
Kodey will be great for sure. Its funny to see all the Rooks on Wed they look in shock like deer in headlights it sweet. I might be able to host (pick up new mish) on Wed. Maybe I'll get him. I got some Elder from France "I like hungabooga" haha.
MTC also kind of reminds me of a reverent Scout camp hahaha

Mark or Matt 8:35 is a tremendous scripture about leaving Babylon behind I'm in Mormon in the B of M. I've read it pretty fast this time. It's been what 5 months since I finished it last. I read 30 min, in B of M for Pers Study time in the morning then I started reading the Doctrine & Covenants yesterday for 30 minutes a day also. Is there any other good places I should specifically read in the Bible?
I've been sleeping great since I started sleeping the other way on my bed cuz now there is no light facing right @ me!
I'll make it a goal to send pics for sure coming upon this nxt fri. Keep reminding me, What do you want pics of haha anywhere particullarly

It reminds me of heaven here cuz everyone is so nice! I have payed in some games dad, they were fun I think I'll start doing that more instead of just shooting. hahah yesterday I was shooting w/ these 2 Elders & I made 3 Freethrows in a row and they were like freaking out how I could make that many in a row & some Elder said, "If you make 10 in a row I'll do 20 push ups!" So what did I do I made the swish like licorish 10 for 10 & I thought they were going to die cuz they were amazed. hahahah I was waiting for them to ask me how many I've made in a row lol but they never did haha (311)

I weigh 150 lbs ahora (now) but it'll probably go down cuz my weight never wants to make up it's mind 150.2 to be exact. I still do 300 everyday my abs are getting good too.

I'm still determined to baptize Mike Tyson in my lifetime and then I want him to punch me just so I can say I've been punched by Mike Tyson. Thats like singing a duet with Michael Jackson.
On Tues or one day this past week me & my comp spoke 90% Spanish maybe 85% cuz Hermano Estivez (our teacher) said that if he will let us speak English in our lessons then we have to go the rest of the week all Spanish except in Pers study time, comp study. The English in the lessons was to me talk more but then Estivez prayed about it and changed his mind on that deal but it was Awesomely fun!
Going to get Almuerzo (lunch) . . .back from getting a sack lunch thanks for waiting for me hahaha
I think when I get to Argentina I'll have a small breakfast cuz I don't get hungry much anymore & so I can have some room for the Steaks!!!! Idk how I'm going to be able to eat all the food they give me. @ this rate I probably can't get past the whole 1st dish. haha
I told my comp that I've never had Dr. Pepper on my life. He doesn't believe me haha he just opened his up from his mom, he had me take a pic of it.
Just ate peanut butter sandwich & I'm not hungry :( but 'll force it
When I get home I don't want to lose my Espanol so I want to think, read B of M & pray in Espanol. I can pray pretty good en Espanol.
I just heard Ron Artest wants to change his name to "Metta World Peace" hahahahahaha that is awesome! I will definatly buy that jersey lol. If you had to change your name what would it be? I would do "I love Jimmer" haha JK or "Made You Look" or "Guess What" but my name is seriously the coolest in the world so I would never change it. Reginald Grant Roberts.

its bueno here like always!
Elder Bednar spoke to us last Friday and it was awesome he talkd bout becoming a pRCH MY gospel missionary"
It was awesome and 7 out of 12 apostles were there perry nelson ballard bednar holland andersen andi cant think of the others and dont have enuff time to look it up haha
and after breakfast on last sat isaw elder perry walking by and he asked us group of pple how our language is going...itts cool ive been in his presence up close 3 times
So thr NBA might be having a lockout that is bittersweet cuz maybe Manu will be in Bahia Blanca longer so i can teach him!! i pray that ill be able to teach him :) but if its not the lords will im okay with it but i really want to
24 days left in America!!! i cant wait!! well probly get our plane plans in a wk or 2

sweet story bout me folowing the holy ghost promptings...so its wed and there are a billion new missionaries and it was dinner time so it was packed and i got in line for food and the line wasnt that big but still it could be shorter and i just had this feeling to go to the other line on the otherside but i could see the otherside a lil bit and it lookd packed and then i was like "hey the HG is never wrong" so i got out of my place in line which wasnt terribly long in the 1st place and i see that noone is in line at all cuz i guess the new missionaries probly thought that there is only oneline per serving area (this is making no sense probly) but to get to the point i followed th spirit and i saved a few min.
the lord cares bout everything bout u even bout how fast yu get ur food :)

im doing pretty good in teachin in all spanish our inv want to get bapt...they are inv from our teachers missions so they try to make it as real as possible

I don't really know what to say cuz I have some stuff I'm going to save for the email
I kinda need a haircut hmm maybe I'll get one Friday. But the Haircutististist aren't really good so I'll probly look like a Tom Jones after ugh hahaha
The other day @ lunch some of the Elders were taking about Pokemon hahaha I'm glad I never got into that stuff & I think I'm the only Elder that knows nothing about it. So it made me happy
Elder Bednar spoke about becoming a "Preach My Gospel Missionary" it was good
My comp said he went to Ryan Sheckler's bday party for his 12th Bday party. Shecker is a sweet skateboarder & he's kind of like one of the best known skaters so it is sweet
So I got to see Paul & Karen & Nancy & Kevin. In our Devotional w/ all the MTC I was thinking oh yeah I should look for them so I stand up for like 20 sec & then I sat down then I stood up for about 10 sec & I look over kind of in front & all 4 of them are waving & giving me thumbs up. I was sitting in the corner (to the speakers left & a little bit behind them) so it was amazing how fast they found me!
Then as we were walking out for dinner I'm kinda zoned in while I was walking then Paul runs up to me and puts his hands on my shoulders and I was like "Heeeyy!" Then we hugged it was sweet!
I'm so glad I get to learn Spanish! I love it. I don't hate anything I can't wait til I can just speak it.
I think Nathan & Andrew said they got it by 6 months (the language) so that will be like Nov, Dec when hopefully I'll be able to do it w/ ease. but who knows it may come earlier. I just need to work hard & do my part & the Lord will do the rest. So when I call home on Christmas (which will be hot by the way hahaha :) ) I will try to be able to say a ton.
Kodey will be great for sure. Its funny to see all the Rooks on Wed they look in shock like deer in headlights it sweet. I might be able to host (pick up new mish) on Wed. Maybe I'll get him. I got some Elder from France "I like hungabooga" haha.
MTC also kind of reminds me of a reverent Scout camp hahaha

Mark or Matt 8:35 is a tremendous scripture about leaving Babylon behind I'm in Mormon in the B of M. I've read it pretty fast this time. It's been what 5 months since I finished it last. I read 30 min, in B of M for Pers Study time in the morning then I started reading the Doctrine & Covenants yesterday for 30 minutes a day also. Is there any other good places I should specifically read in the Bible?
I've been sleeping great since I started sleeping the other way on my bed cuz now there is no light facing right @ me!

It reminds me of heaven here cuz everyone is so nice! I have payed in some games dad, they were fun I think I'll start doing that more instead of just shooting. hahah yesterday I was shooting w/ these 2 Elders & I made 3 Freethrows in a row and they were like freaking out how I could make that many in a row & some Elder said, "If you make 10 in a row I'll do 20 push ups!" So what did I do I made the swish like licorish 10 for 10 & I thought they were going to die cuz they were amazed. hahahah I was waiting for them to ask me how many I've made in a row lol but they never did haha (311)

I weigh 150 lbs ahora (now) but it'll probably go down cuz my weight never wants to make up it's mind 150.2 to be exact. I still do 300 everyday my abs are getting good too.

Two more letters :)
Letter 4 - June 17
Good morning today
so the mavs are the champions that is awesome dirk is the man!
i'm emailing early today cuz from 9 to 11 we have sum meetin with these argentina agegents pple and it pretty much makes our morning all wack so we are doing laundry now!
and with the meeting we might be able to go see the real world like cars and people and buses hahaha cuz we might have to be driven sumwhere idk ..we also have it nxt thursday and i think there is a better chance of going sumwhere on thursday
its hard to focus most times when we r reading in class my mind always starts to wonder and its buggin me ill be on a page for like 5-6 min i've always struggled with that in reading but mostly when there are pple around me its toguh ill see sum 1 move or sumthin and i just lose focus then i have to read it over and over again to remmber wat i read. idk how to get rid of it i guess practice. and i lose focus to when teachers and students are talkin. and im just like i have no idea wats just been said. so im going to keep trying hard to focus idk i guess keep praying for me and ill tell u nxt wk if its the same

I can understand when our teacher is talking in spanish not perfectly but i put wrds together so they make sense its cool!

Letter 5 - June 24
Hey hi there everyone!
I heard yesterday that jimmer was drafted by the bucks! but then i read alyssa's email about him being traded to the Kings!! That is awesome Oh that is awesome!
and Jazz picked Up Enes Kanter And Alec Burkes I'm calling right now Burkes is the Next Kobe Bryant i called it b4 the draft and the jazz will not go wrong there. Perfect choice!
Well everything is bueno here! tonight we get to hear from an apostle probably around 4!
I haven't seen paul karen kevan or nancy but i'm lookin haha
Oh its funny on preparation day or when i'm in street clothes and i'll see sum missionaries walk by i'll think to myself "Sweet Missionaries" like when we see them at wal mart and stuff hahahaha its kinda a blonde moment...i guess i do that cuz we've never had any missionaries at home and stuff, so seeing missionaries is still new haha

in our district we have sum athletes sum elder Schaap from New Mexico is playing football for BYU (so if u want me to say any mean things to a real cougar, ill take ur suggestions. like Utah rocks!! hahaha jk) then there is a kid who plays Baseball for sum college in AZ and he says he could probably get drafted if he wanted, then there is a kid on the Byu track team from Texas he was saying he was 21st in the country in Hurdles! So its pretty sweet being around other athletes!
Oh and that Elder Webber or Weber who said he was on tooeles champ team like 5 yrs ago, i guess he plays ball for BYU and he used to play for UVU so maybe Aaron England might know him, he said he like redshirted for the cougs last yr. its sweet cuz i could beat him one on one, he said he changed his shot to look like jimmers cuz jimmer is his idol! he said he went to a private school after coach alverson died so that is y i have no idea who he is
Spanish is still not making much since but it'll come no worries sum things i just get and others are just way wack and makes no sense, i can understand but not speak much
its sweet if u say leera that means "will u read" so sometimes one word means 3 words in eng.
I still don't sleep much but i get way tired sumtimes in the day so i will walk in circles sumtimies when i study so i stay awake haha i thought of it yesterday!
We talked with an argentina console guy and he just answered questions for about an hour an a half. he says pple are reallly poor and we might get robbed so we have that to look forward to hahaha and they are really family oriented there "we believe that families can live together forever" will probably be my opening line for every house hahaha
our teachers have been telling our district that we need to leave babylon behind and slang language... that is hard haha

Letter 3 (with pictures!)
Wassup again!
Sorry mom i'm late emailing u my comp had to get a haircut!
Mavs up 3 2 ugh i wanna watch but whatever i'm fine.
Yoshiwhatever Kikuchi came and spoke to us and i thought how that was supposed to be my name since he was speaking when i was born. he was an awesome speaker telling his life story. for the sake of time i won't tell u haha.
My branch pres Stutterd used to work as an advisor for 3 US pres... Ford, Raegen, and the 1st Bush and he's been on airforce 1 for over 21 million miles
and every one thinks hes a 3 nefite cuz hes always going to like iraq or france or jordan...and he pretty much knows where the exact place where everyones from...his wife's dad or sumthn helped organize Stansbury or sumthn hes a great guy!
Haha this is funny i swear all the pacific islander elders smell waaay good lol im not trying to sound creepy haha even tho i am sounding creepy but they do! ill have to visit the islands and buy sum soap or watevr they use hahahaha
i always seem to wake up like at 4 every morning and my body is like wahooo ready to go then i look at my watch and i still have 2 hrs its weird

spanish is pretty hard its just confusing but im really good at memorizing words
and its pretty funny we talk bout conjugated wrds and adverbs and im like wat the heck is an adverb and conjugation stuff so im also kinda learning eng and span haha i probly should have payed more attention in english lol
The song Come Thy Fount is basically my fav song its not in the hymn books but wen i die someone needs to play that i swear i feel the spirit every time even when i whistle it

spanish is pretty hard its just confusing but im really good at memorizing words
and its pretty funny we talk bout conjugated wrds and adverbs and im like wat the heck is an adverb and conjugation stuff so im also kinda learning eng and span haha i probly should have payed more attention in english lol
The song Come Thy Fount is basically my fav song its not in the hymn books but wen i die someone needs to play that i swear i feel the spirit every time even when i whistle it
its pretty cool i try to think of a song of the world haha and sumtimes i just cant remember at all the wrds so that is like a cool weird blessin since i probly heard the song 2 wks ago its cool!
There is a Jordan Wynn lookalike running around here and i just start laghing cuz i think of Wynns gorgeous mustache hahaha i should go get his autograph

Dobson is hilarious we were all talking last nite and he just cracks us up "im walkin on the ceilin yalll" as he has his feet on the ceiling on his bunk haha

i heard ther was a volcano in argentina, and sum kid said to dobs "you didnt here about it?" dobs said "oh yeah like we go and watch the news each nite" it was a moment you had to be ther for and plus his accent make him 1000 times funnier
